Shu Style reader Keira from the blog, WithFarrar wrote to us about her amazing eyelash extention experience! As you know we are mad for all things beauty and this article all about a new beauty treatment had to be posted! So here's Keira's guide to getting fabulous and long lashes with a little added help...
Hellloo, I’m Keira Farrar from the blog With Farrar and I recently got my lashes done by the amazing Ty Lashes. This post is a review of the process, and also a chance to take lots of selfies of my new gorgeous lashes without any judgment hehe!
So firstly who are Ty Lashes? Ty Lashes is the name of the amazing London/Sheffield based semi-permanent eyelash extension specialist: Tyra Alexander. I had my lashes done and I feel so flirty and fab with them on, they make my eyes instantly look much bigger and fuller. I love them, you can see for yourself how amazing they look, below are before and after shots.
My lashes used to be really thick and long but then I became Anemic and lost a lot of the length unfortunately, but here are the before shots…
As you can see from the above photos my natural lashes are quite long and curled however not as long as I’d wish. Please excuse my brows, I had absolutely no make up on at the time – shocking I know!! For those of you wondering what the white things are under my lashes, its surgical tape, used to hold down your lower lashes whilst the extensions are added onto your natural top lashes. Although it feels quite strange it prevents the glue getting on any of the lower lashes and then having your eyes stuck together – definitely not the look you’d want to achieve!
For my lashes I chose Premium Mink 14mm, to achieve a natural but full effect. However I did chose longer than most would, as I love having a bolder effect, but there are different lengths such as 10mm or 12mm with varying thickness. If you are unsure of what would suit you best or which lashes will achieve the look you want, just ask.
The Results…
Close Ups…
Aren’t they just gorgeous, and they look so natural because they are glued to your own eyelashes individually. Its your own little secret as there is no obvious strip that you get with strip lashes giving anything away.
So why try lash extensions?
Well wearing lashes means you can just roll out of bed and already look presentable haha. Everyone who knows me, knows I LOVE makeup - buying it, wearing it, doing it for others, everything - It just gives me that time to relax whilst I put my makeup on in the morning. I'm never one to roll out of bed, get washed and dressed and leave the house without putting a scrap of makeup on. Its great for some people, but not me. Now this does mean however I may take about half an hour longer than those who don't really bother with it, but I'm happy to wake up a little earlier to make time for it - It's something I love doing. However armed with these gorgeous lashes I must admit it is such a blessing as before I even do my makeup I already have an added shine and it takes time off my morning routine – yay extra time in bed in the morning!
The Details
Although it varies from person to person, usually a set will take around 45 minuts to apply and will last around 2 weeks with proper care, at which point you may want to get lash infill’s to fill in any gaps from any shed lashes (the extensions, not your own, don’t worry!)
Maintenance Tips
A few maintenance tips would just be to comb them through each day with a lash wand (If you book with TyLashes she will give you one of these for free), don’t take a hot steamy bath/shower after getting them done – I’d wait until the next day preferably- so shower before! Also try not to rub your eyes a lot or play with them as it will inevitably loosen the lashes and make them less stable, and that’s generally it.
You CAN wear eyeliner, eyeshadow etc on your eyes, for some reason people seem to think it means no eye makeup – wear whatever you want – I certainly do! Just make sure you remove it carefully and properly to ensure you keep them cared for.
So, now you've seen how beautiful the results are and how easy it is to keep them looking gorgeous, I’m sure you’ll want to get them for yourself! To find out more or book an appointment you can find her on Instagram @Tylashes and on Facebook Ty Lashes. Just tell her you've found her through With Farrar for Shu Style and I'm sure she will fit you in ASAP. Also let me know if you do book, and how your experience is, I'd love to hear from anyone on the topic.
