So, the Christmas period is officially over and university work is once again draining our lives and souls. But thankfully, our love for television and an awards night based on just that brightened up our workload last week. The National Television Awards graced our screens last Wednesday showing programmes such as Gogglebox, The Great British Bake Off and Downton Abbey claiming their trophies. However, it seems important to point out the errors in judgment by some celebrities, by highlighting the best and worst dressed at the NTAs, and the outfits we’re just not so sure on.
Starting with the best, Rochelle Humes looked stunning in her scarlet fishtail frock, paired with a gorgeous statement necklace and statement red lipstick. This Saturdays diva was joined by hubby Marvin Humes, both making the ideal dream team with his trimming black suit teamed with a white shirt. This couple rocked the red carpet in style and undoubtedly turned many heads at the awards!

Next, Amanda Holden sports a beautifully fitting black slim dress, focussing on her tiny waist and petite frame. With her hair pulled back into a classy low pony tail, the focus lies entirely on the simplicity of the dress. The back of the dress shows a criss-cross material emphasising her toned and slim figure. This dress went down a hit at the NTA’s and we at SHUStyle loved it!

Finally, our last favourite outfit was worn by Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby. She swapped her infamous skimpy outfits as seen on the series for this elegant sequinned blue gown, revealing none of the body parts us viewers are normally subjected to! Her hair was styled in a classy do, drawing attention to the outfit itself with delicately shows off her new figure, but in a more sophisticated, glamorous way than her usual outfits do.

However, there were some outfits that should have been left in the fitting room. Starting with Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis, unfortunately, her black lace ensemble has hit many worst dressed lists after her appearance at the NTA’s. It could be assumed she has forgotten to put an outfit over her leotard, and has instead settled for a black see-through drape. I don’t think we’ll be seeing this outfit replicated any time soon!

However, Chloe Sims’ outfit was possibly just as bad, if not worse. This tight latex outfit (if you can call it that) resembles the idea of a cat outfit on Halloween… the badly dressed kind. Although emphasising her good figure, this dress does not demonstrate class or sophistication, and the criss-cross style shoes poking out from underneath only makes it worse. This outfit definitely needs a rethink in our opinion!

However, we have covered the best dressed, and definitely covered the worst. But there were some we could not quite make up our minds about! Firstly, Emma Willis’ dress, successfully highlighting a toned midriff but using flamboyant colours and a crop top that looks like it could be bought from New Look. We think Emma looks good in this outfit, but we’re just not quite sure how!

Made in Chelsea’s Lucy Watson also has us baffled by her outfit. Sporting a ballerina type style of skirt, in a subtle lime colour and a stripy sailor top, we’re just not sure whether this outfit is appropriate for the NTA’s. This ensemble is also a huge contrast to her usual style of chique and slimming dresses. Compared to Rochelle and Charlotte Crosby with their elegant floor length gowns, this outfit gets lost amongst the crowd with its too casual styling and plain colours.

So there are our best and worst dressed celebrities of the NTA’s. We’d love to hear your opinion to get in touch with us on twitter and tell us whether you agree or disagree with our choices!
