LAST MINUTE AND NO EFFORT HALLOWEEN COSTUMES

So it’s Halloween in 2 days and you’re as last minute as they come! You’ve left it this late because you’re not big on the whole ‘fancy dress’ thing but everyone’s going out and you have no costume. Well SHU Style have come to the rescue with __ options for the ‘no effort’ student who hates dressing up.

Option 1 - The Mexican Skull
Price: £12 -£14.99

If you’re not keen on uncomfortable outfits this is the one for you. This costume involves wearing a simple dress like we know and love. The cut out skull dress on the left is from missguided and is only £14.99. I love the back detailing on this dress and it’s great for Halloween as it has that grunge look to it. Paired with a pretty mexican skull make up look, this is a perfect halloween outfit which doesn’t knock you too far out of your comfort zone.

SIDE NOTE: If the missguided dress doesn’t wow you, maybe this boohoo dress will (right). At £12 for this monochrome skull bodycon you can’t go wrong. Again, pair it with the same make up and this will make a great look. HURRY! Boohoo are doing £1.99 next day delivery which ends at midnight! (29/10/14)

Face paint kits can be grabbed for as little as £1 in your local pound/fancy dress shop or even some cheap make up from the drugstore will do the trick without breaking your bank.

We suggest a make up look like this may be easy to copy and pair with these dresses:

Option 2 - Pumpkin
Price: £8.00

Back to Boohoo again and these bodysuits really are a bargain! Coming in at £8.00 each, these are a steal. They are available in two colours as you can see. I like the traditional orange pumpkin look best. This purchase will be all you need. We all have some trusty black leggings or a black skirt right? Team it with a black skirt, leggings or over leggings and there is your outfit! If you want to sport the full pumpkin face paint look - go for it! As said, face paint kits come in as little as £1.00 from your local pound/fancy dress shop. Here’s a tutorial which may be easy to copy (don’t be put off that it’s a children’s make up tutorial! The pumpkin look is really cute and is the first make up look that she does. You can find this about a minute into the video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArLQB1aqKPY

If that’s not for you. You can team your pumpkin bodysuit with a dramatic orange eye make up look:

Option 3 - The Zombie
Price: About £5.00

Okay so this really is a make-shift costume! This was the costume I put together (last minute) last year.

Basically I went to my local pharmacy and bought a couple of bandages at about £1 each. I wore an old skater dress (you can use a skater skirt or whatever you think works) and wrapped the bandages around the top of my dress and chest area and left the skater skirt to float out of the bandages. I covered the bandages in fake blood that I picked up for £2.50 in my local fancy dress shop (Party Town, Ecclesall Rd.) I used spare scraps of bandages and tied them loosely around my arms, legs and in my hair. I used talcumn powder that you can get for about £1 from any pharmacy or drugstore to whiten my face and hair before I splattered the remainder of my fake blood over my body and face.

Sorry that the images aren’t great but hopefully it gives you an idea!

Option 4 - Black Cat
Price: From as little as £1

This is the ultimate cop out! Dress head to toe in black and grab yourself some cat ears. You can pick these up from as little as £1.00 at your local pound shop or try New Look’s range of cat ears as they have a small inexpensive choice.

New Look, £3.99

Follow Niomi Smart’s cute, simple and easy to follow cat make up tutorial as suggested by our Assistant Editor, Alex Gould in Friday’s post all about Halloween make up.

Hope this helps my fellow last minute friends!

Happy Halloween Everyone!
