TOP 6 HALLOWEEN MAKEUP TUTORIALS

We’ve all been there, its 6 o’clock on Halloween night and you still haven’t decided on an outfit. It usually results in a makeshift bin bag dress and some black eye shadow smothered all over your face. This year I’ve decided I’m going to be ultra-prepared. An easy and cheap way to transform yourself into something scary (or at least mildly Halloween related), is by slapping on some face paint and make up. So here are my top 6 Halloween tutorials I’ve found on YouTube (no bin bags required).

I thought I’d start off with a simple one. It’s predictable but it’s so easy and so cute. The classic cat! Niomi Smart makes it into more than just ears and whiskers, I especially love her eye makeup idea. Accessorise, Topshop, Primark and Claires are all selling cat ears for a reasonable price, so if you want to go for the pretty rather than scary look, this might just be the one for you.

This tutorial by Alison is one of the more difficult ones, but if you’re pretty crafty or just fancy a challenge the end result is amazing. I think just a cute dress would go great with this doll look, nothing too OTT, the face is more than enough.

If you want to get into the full swing of Halloween spirit and go all out scary, Sabrina’s zombie makeup is really effective and not too difficult. You could be really creative with your outfit, rip up an old T-shirt and shorts, or just wear a plain black dress, anything go’s with this.

Don’t be put off by the beginning of this video (it is a bit strange) the actual tutorial is pretty good. I think The Black Swan is a fab Halloween idea, everyone’s seen the movie or will at least recognise it. Nikol uses an airbrush machine to do her face, but you can easily get the same effect with some white face paint or light foundation and a makeup brush. There is a link at the end to another tutorial of how to make your own Black Swan outfit, but if you don’t want to spend too much cash, a black skirt and top would go perfectly.

This vampire tutorial is my personal favorite. It’s scary but still pretty and really simple to do. Its is done by the same girl who did the doll makeup. She’s great at going step by step and making it as easy as possible to follow. Team it with a black dress or leather skirt and your ready to go!

The last tutorial is for those of you who can’t be bothered to go all out with a full face of white and black makeup. Karina shows how to make a simple but realistic scar. You’ll need some rigid collodion for this look which you can get online for about £4. If you’re looking for simplicity here’s your answer.
