In today's post we will be comparing Urban Decay's Naked 2 Palette which comes in at a painful £37, against Collection's 'Little Mix - All ABout The Eyes Palette' which costs only £2.99!

Now don't be put off by the cheap brand or the fact that it is a 'Little Mix inspired' shadow palette. This inexpensive palette has a selection of 6 bronze/nude shades in handy travel size packaging. Some of their shades are very similar to some that are in the Naked 2 Palette, but just how similar are they?

(Left to Right: 'Feather' and 'Bootycall')

Firstly I swatched the lightest colour in the Collection palette which is called 'Feather' against Naked 2's 'Bootycall'. I thought this was a very close match. The pigmentation was very good in both shades although 'Bootycall' seemed to have an extra pearl-like sheen.
TIP: Either of these beautiful, light shades would look great applied in the tearduct area to open up your eye, or just below the brow bone to highlight the arch in your eyebrow.

(Left to Right: 'Sunkissed' and 'Chopper')

Next I swatched Collection's 'Sunkissed' against Urban Decay's 'Chopper'. The pigmentation in both of these shades were very strong which I found really impressive. The colours were similar however 'Chopper' was more of a coppery colour with strong hints of an orange tinge coming through. Where as 'Sunkissed' seemed to swatch as a burnt gold. Both shades are beautiful, it just depends on which colour you're looking for.

(Left to Right: 'Golden Sand' and 'Half Baked')

Now for the golds! Collection's 'Golden Sand' had good pigmentation and shimmer, yet it was no match for 'Half Baked' by Urban Decay. This is the perfect standard gold: bright, bold, shimmery. It's pigmentation is just amazing and it is understandable why this shade is one of Urban Decay's best selling eyeshadows. Either of these beautiful gold shades will come in really handy around the festive season!

(Left to Right: 'Dazzling Brown' and 'Snakebite')

'Dazzling Brown' is the lighter of the two brown shades in the Collection palette. To the naked eye it looked very similar to Naked 2's 'Snakebite' which is why I decided to swatch these two shades together. However as you can see 'Dazzling Brown' is a very warm toned shade - almost coppery. The pigmentation again is great; very shimmery and metallic. I was not put off by the outcome of the swatch, it's still a lovely shade that I would use, it was just now what I expected. 'Snakebite' looked exactly as it swatched. A lovely muted brown with a hint of shimmer.

(Left to Right: 'Cocoa Dream' and 'Busted')

These two shades are both the darkest browns in their palettes. They swatched very similar in many ways. They were both similar in pigmentation and both slightly more matte than their shimmery neighbours. The only difference is the shade 'Busted' from the Naked 2 palette is just slightly darker.
TIP: Either of these darker brown shades would create a nice contour when applied to the crease of your lid.

(Left to Right: 'Blackbird' and 'Blackout')

This swatch showed the biggest difference between the two palettes. Although 'Blackbird' by Collection sits very dark in its pan, it actually swatches very chalky and grey which was a bit of a let down. However Urban Decay's 'Blackout' is as pigmented as ever and applies as jet black as it looks.

Overall, although some of the Urban Decay shades were better than some of the Collection ones, I think the Naked Palette has some fall downs which need to be considered. It's big. It's just really long and awkward to travel with. On top of that, I've found through my experience of travelling with it, is that the shadows shatter quite easily if knocked, which is heartbreaking when you next open up the lid and see dust everywhere! I'm not sure if this is because of the tin packaging is not secure enough, or just because its awkwardly big to travel with and is more prone to getting knocked. I love the size of the Collection palette and although the packaging may look cheap I think it's pretty secure. There is a great selection of shades, the pigmentation is good, it's fantastic for travelling and at £2.99 - what is there to think about?! Collection's Little Mix All About The Eyes Palette is an absolute steal! Definitely one to purchase and is flying off the shelves so get your hands on it quick.

If you're feeling like a splurge the Naked 2 is just incredible. With a selection of 12 brown/bronze/nude shades you're spoilt for choice of amazing quality eyeshadows.

Get your hands on the Collection palette now - it's a hidden gem!
